Cornerback Dane Jackson of the Buffalo Bills is unsure about his future plans at this time. General manager of the Buffalo Bills Brandon Beane has his job cut out for him this summer, to put it mildly.
Following yet another disappointing playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo is facing what will likely be their most difficult summer to date. The Bills have already spent more than $50 million in losses, and a staggering 22 players are set to become free agents.
Though it seems reasonable to presume that the majority of these guys have already played their last game while wearing a Bills uniform, nothing is guaranteed.
What does the future hold for Dane Jackson
It will take time to see what the majority of those players, including CB Dane Jackson, have ahead of them.
Over his four seasons in Buffalo, Jackson, a former seventh-round pick out of Pittsburgh, has established himself as a reliable member of the secondary. In the 52 games that he has played in, he has started 28 of them, and his coverage statistics are comparatively good.
He said according to Fox Sports,
“I’m pretty much playing the waiting game. Just working while I wait, continue to keep my head down. I really don’t know too much right now,”
“A lot goes into a season. Just the time away from your family and the time and the work you put in, that’s a big letdown in itself,” Jackson said. “But you can’t dwell on it for too long, because guess what? Another season’s going to roll back around, and you got to be ready for it. So, it’s pretty much back to the drawing board. We’ve got a lot of faith in our team. And we’ll continue to work towards that goal.”
Jackson’s importance dwindled toward the end of this season, particularly after Rasul Douglas was acquired by the Bills during the trade deadline. Given that Douglas has a more year left on his deal, this may be Jackson’s last year in Buffalo.
But Jackson would surely like to remain with the Bills and assist them in completing their outstanding business if it were up to him.
