Is Russell Wilson preparing to depart from the Broncos Nation? The quarterback and his wife Ciara, who purchased their estate in the Denver area for an astounding $25 million in 2022, are reportedly “accepting offers” on the property, suggesting that they are preparing for that scenario, according to a BusinessDen article.
Wilson’s future with the Broncos appears uncertain at best with the hoopla surrounding his benching this season.
Following his trade from the Seahawks, the veteran signal-caller had a wild two seasons with the team. As rumors circulated that the team was sitting Wilson because of his 2025 injury guarantee, he was benched for Denver’s final two 2023 games in favor of Jarrett Stidham.
Under that clause in his contract, Wilson would have been guaranteed $37 million in 2025 if he had been on the roster as of March 17.
If Wilson had suffered a major injury and been unable to pass a physical with another possible suitor during the summer, the guarantee would have come into effect. Wilson confirmed on December 29 that he had been approached by the team in October of the previous season to accept a benching due to the injury guarantee.
In his first season in Denver, Wilson completed a career-low 60.5 percent of his passes; but, this season, he showed some improvement, throwing for 26 touchdowns to just eight interceptions for a quarterback rating of 98.
The Broncos have now missed eight straight postseasons.
