The Chiefs’ CEO, Clark Hunt, revealed their vision for an updated Arrowhead Stadium a few days ago. Among other things, the vision calls for additional concession stands, retail spaces, toilets, a vast new parking deck, improved TVs, Wi-Fi, DAS, and audio technology. Populous, a Kansas City-based sports design and architecture group, will carry out the proposal.

According to Clark, the renovations will cost an astounding $800 million in total, with the earliest date scheduled to begin in 2027. The Chiefs‘ CEO, Clark Hunt, revealed their vision for an updated Arrowhead Stadium a few days ago.

The Hunt family will provide $300 million of the $800 million. The taxpayers would foot the bill for the remaining $500 million, according to Hunt. The county committed to a 3/8-cent sales tax for the stadium renovations in accordance with the 2006 sales tax deal, which the Hunt family now seeks to rescind.

When Was the Last Time Arrowhead Stadium Was Renovated? What State Is The Stadium In Right Now?

The last significant update to Arrowhead Stadium took place in 2007. A staggering $375 million was allocated for the renovations, of which the Hunt family contributed $125 million.

Meanwhile, the remaining funds were to come from the 0.38% sales tax that Kansas City residents had to pay. A Lamar Hunt statue, a horizon-level premium suite, and the establishment of the Chiefs Hall of Honor are just a few of the noteworthy additions to the remodeled stadium.

The Chiefs upgraded the locker rooms, added new television displays, and built new lower-level seats in 2019. That was the only significant improvement since then. This is really disheartening for a squad the caliber of the Chiefs. It’s reasonable to anticipate the barest minimum standards of their stadium given that they are among the most successful NFL teams of the past five years.

The Chiefs’ stadium is rated lowest for almost every significant stadium quality assessment.
