It was logical to assume that the Pittsburgh Steelers were done adding veteran signal-callers to their roster in 2024 when quarterback Russell Wilson signed with the team on Monday.
Five days afterward, Pittsburgh added another. The Steelers announced on Saturday that they have acquired quarterback Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2025.

Fields thanked and said goodbye to Bears supporters on social media shortly after the news was initially released. Wilson then greeted Fields as a member of his new team. Wilson wrote on social media,
“Let’s get it @justnfields,” “QB room bout to be (fire emojis).”
Let’s get it @justnfields!

Wilson sent a photo of Fields and himself shaking hands during the Denver Broncos’ October 1 victory over the Bears, 31–28.
There are certain similarities among the quarterbacks. They both have Big Ten ancestry, were once major league players, improved their skills after making a transfer in college, and are hoping to make a comeback after disappointing runs with their previous teams.
