Lakers Injury Report: There’s Still A Severe Soreness in Cam Reddish’s Right Ankle

Cam Reddish, a small forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, is still having trouble with his right ankle.

His original ankle injury occurred on January 23 and he missed 14 games in a row. He returned for four games, missed one, returned for another, and was sidelined for LA’s 120-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

The 6’8″ wing is still dealing with “severe soreness” in his ankle, according to Khobi Price of The Orange County Register. The team will have more information in a few days, according to head coach Darvin Ham, which seems to imply Reddish will stay out of the game at least through Wednesday’s road rematch against the Sacramento Kings.

Reddish, 24, is averaging a modest 6.2 points on .406/.343/.771 shooting splits, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest throughout his 40 healthy games for Los Angeles. For the former Duke lottery pick selected in 2019, this is his first season in Los Angeles. On a veteran’s minimum contract, he joined Rob Pelinka and company and has since developed into a passable but unimpressive wing defensive option and a frustratingly low scorer.

Nevertheless, the Lakers, who have had Reddish, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Gabe Vincent out for a large portion of 2024, have appeared to be a somewhat vulnerable wing defense. As a result, they lack his defense.
