There is a lot of conjecture over LeBron James and Anthony Davis‘ futures in Los Angeles, as the fate of the Los Angeles Lakers is uncertain.
LeBron James’ son Bryce recently liked an Instagram photo that hinted at the end of the LeBron-AD era, adding fuel to the flames.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis were featured on Overtime’s Instagram page, where a number of black-and-white images were posted. These images captured their time together while they were wearing the purple and gold of the Lakers and their championship win in the bubble. Bryce’s like adds a fascinating element of speculation to the otherwise captionless post.
The Lakers haven’t played well
After stopping their 11-game losing streak against the defending champions in Game 3, the Lakers extended their season, but things are still unclear going forward. It’s an uphill task for the Lakers because no NBA club has ever recovered from a 0–3 deficit in history.
In 2019, the Lakers acquired Davis in a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, ushering in the LeBron-AD era in Los Angeles. From that moment on, the two have participated in 210 regular-season games together. In those games, Davis has averaged 24.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, while James has averaged 25.6 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.6 rebounds.
In 2020, their collaboration achieved its zenith as they won an NBA championship.
But in 2021, injuries hampered their postseason run, which led to a first-round loss to the Phoenix Suns and a collapse in their title defense.
The Lakers’ difficulties persisted into the 2021–2022 campaign, as they were unable to make it to the postseason. Even though they had a late-season run the previous year, the Denver Nuggets easily defeated them in the Western Conference Finals.
LeBron James’ outstanding effort in Game 3 against the Nuggets was crucial in helping the Lakers prolong their postseason run. James led the club with 30 points on 14 of 23 shooting, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. His efforts helped the Lakers win a pivotal game and force a fifth game.
