After winning two Super Bowls and 11 NFL seasons, Logan Ryan is ending his career.
The 33-year-old former captain of the Giants and native of New Jersey declared his retirement on social media on Tuesday morning. The defensive back played with the 49ers for the last portion of the previous season.

Ryan was a three-year standout at Rutgers before being selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was a standout at Eastern Regional High School in Vorhees, New Jersey.
Logan Ryan played his first four seasons with New England, where he was a member of the championship teams of Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI. As a rookie, Ryan had a career-high five interceptions.
Logan Ryan’s career in NFL has been a roller coaster
Logan Ryan inked a three-year, $30 million contract with the Titans in 2017, and during his rookie season, he helped the team advance to the divisional round. In the following season, he helped the team win the AFC Championship.
After signing a one-year contract with the Giants in 2020, Ryan went back home and switched positions from corner to safety.
Because of his instant influence, he was awarded a three-year, $31 million contract extension with a $20 million guarantee on Christmas Day of that year. However, Ryan’s tenure with the Giants would only last one more season when they cut him go in March 2022.
Ryan joined the 49ers in December of the previous season after playing with the Buccaneers throughout the 2022 season. He saw action in all three of the team’s playoff games.
