Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was traded by the Buffalo Bills to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick, shocking fans. Even more astonishing is the fact that Josh Allen, the team’s quarterback, apparently learned about the transaction at the same moment as the general public.
The relationship between Diggs and Allen is called into question by this lack of communication, and it is possible that friction played a role in the choice. Even though Diggs made a substantial impact over the course of four years, amassing excellent stats and assisting in the Bills’ offensive engine, his departure creates a sizable void in the team’s receiving corps.
According to reporter Ari Meirov on X,
“#Bills GM Brandon Beane said he didn’t inform Josh Allen that the Stefon Diggs trade was happening, so he probably woke up to the news this morning,” “But Beane said he did alert Allen this offseason that there were inquiries for Diggs, and something could happen.”
Stefon Diggs says goodbye
To successfully assist Allen, the Bills may need to bolster their receiving options, with tight end Dawson Knox and rookie Dalton Kincaid emerging as key targets. On Instagram Diggs wrote,
“I can’t begin to express the amount of love and respect I have for the city of Buffalo,” Diggs wrote on Instagram to bid farewell to his former team. “Four of the best years of my life, the city welcomed me with open arms. I’m forever grateful for you all and the @buffalobills organization!
“Something special was built over these years with some very special men, that will always have a place in my heart. Billsmafia, so many great memories created throughout the years. Those games were crazy because of you. Sadly good things come to an end until we meet again.”
The Bills’ recent playoff losses to the Chiefs underscore the need of fielding a competitive team and point to possible future moves to bolster their offensive weaponry as they attempt to make it to the Super Bowl.
