Stephen A. Smith has a lot to say most of the time. Well this time it’s no different.
The Minnesota Timberwolves massively salvaged their season with a 115-70 home victory over the Denver Nuggets. With this victory, they were able to even the series at three points apiece, as they held the Denver team, led by Nikola Jokic, to just nine points in the fourth quarter. To win the series, though, the Minnesota team coached by Anthony Edwards will now need to defeat the Nuggets in a Game 7 at Ball Arena. Stephen A. Smith, who was impressed, advised Edwards and the Timberwolves to adopt a specific attitude against the reigning Champions in order to replicate their Game 6 glory.
The 56-year-old expert suggested on ESPN’s NBA Countdown that the Wolves should force the Nuggets to “earn everything,” just like they did in Game 6 by applying constant defensive pressure. The reigning champions will be motivated to protect their season because Game 7 will take place in Denver, away from home.
Stephen A. Smith speaks about what wolves need to do
Therefore, the ESPN analyst thinks that if the Wolves maintain a close game, Anthony Edwards, their closer, would make the decisive play in the end. But from the start, the T-Wolves will have to maintain tight shackles. Smith said,
“Nothing will be given, everything will be earned. It’s Game 7.…You got to recognize that you are going up against the reigning defending Champions, led by a three-times MVP…what you want to do is fight and keep it close enough, so your superstar is somebody they gotta worry about as the moment wanes,”
The Nuggets’ hopes of winning a second consecutive championship have certainly been derailed by the Timberwolves. Their intensity in the sixth game brought back memories of their dominance in the series’ opening two games in the WCSF.
They did, however, lose their next three games and proved to the Nuggets that they are not always unbeatable. Anthony Edwards gave a thorough account of the team’s comeback from a three-game losing run during that wake.
