Paige Shiver Was Pregnant With Sherrone Moore’s Baby

Paige Shiver, the former University of Michigan executive assistant who had an inappropriate relationship with ex-football coach Sherrone Moore, said in a television interview Friday that Moore got her pregnant during their nearly four-year affair.

Shiver, 32, broke down in tears during an interview with ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” telling interviewer Linsey Davis that she discovered she was pregnant in May 2022, shortly after the relationship began in January 2022 when she was an intern and Moore was an assistant coach.

Shiver, who was later promoted to Moore’s executive assistant after he became head coach in 2024, said she has Pompe disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and can lead to heart and respiratory complications. Multiple doctors advised her that continuing the pregnancy would not be safe or healthy, she said. She terminated the pregnancy in July 2022.

“Yeah,” Shiver said through tears when asked if she wanted to keep the baby.

She said Moore responded to news of the pregnancy by telling her, “You have to do what’s right for your body.”

Shiver described the relationship as manipulative, saying Moore “had complete control over me, over my emotions, over my career” and used that power whenever she tried to end it.

“Every time I tried to pull away … he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and make me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me,” she said.

Reaction on social media has been largely unsympathetic to Shiver’s portrayal of herself as a victim. Many commenters have argued she does not deserve that status because she willingly slept with the married Moore, had unprotected sex that resulted in the pregnancy, and accepted a promotion and pay raise while the affair was ongoing.

The University of Michigan fired Moore on Dec. 10, 2025, after an internal investigation found “credible evidence” of the inappropriate relationship with a staff member. The same day, Shiver alleged Moore entered her apartment uninvited, blamed her for his firing and threatened self-harm. He was arrested and later pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges — malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespassing. On April 14, 2026, a judge sentenced him to 18 months of probation and a $1,000 fine.

Shiver told ABC News she initially denied the relationship during a university human resources inquiry last October because she distrusted the process and felt the athletics department had protected Moore for years.

“No one cared about my feelings,” she said. “They wanted to use me to help him so that they could get through the season.”

Neither Moore nor the University of Michigan immediately responded to requests for comment on Shiver’s latest statements. Moore has previously blamed Shiver for his firing and legal troubles in body camera footage released after his arrest.

Shiver said she hopes her public account will highlight what she called years of manipulation, harassment and exploitation. She has not ruled out a civil lawsuit against Moore or the university.
