If you were expecting chaos, drama, and courtroom fireworks, sorry to disappoint. The latest chapter involving Sherrone Moore came with something far less exciting, calm, polished, and very lawyer-approved statements.
After Moore was handed an 18-month probation sentence, his attorney, Ellen Michaels, stepped up to the mic and basically said, “Everyone behaved, everyone was classy, and the system did its job.” Groundbreaking stuff.
Speaking after the court hearing, Michaels explained that the case was handled “with dignity and respect for all involved,” which is lawyer-speak for: nobody flipped tables, nobody yelled “objection” like in the movies, and everything stayed painfully professional.
She didn’t stop there. Michaels also made it very clear that the outcome had nothing to do with Moore’s name, status, or public profile. According to her, this was all about the evidence and the law. You know, those things we hope matter in court but sometimes side-eye anyway.
“The resolution reflects the evidence and the law,” Michaels said. “This outcome is not the result of favoritism or public profile. It is the result of a careful legal process, a thorough investigation, and advocacy grounded in the facts.”
Moore was sentenced on Tuesday, April 14, in the Washtenaw County 14-A District Court before Judge Cedric Simpson to 18 months of probation.
He was ordered to pay a total of $1,345 in fines and court costs. He’s not allowed to use alcohol or drugs and must continue mental health treatment.
He’s not allowed to have any direct or indirect contact with Paige Shiver, the victim. He can’t discuss her online or go to her place of work.
Michaels said Moore and his wife, Kelli, are now focused on moving forward.
“He and his wife, Kelli, are ready to move forward with their family and focus on the next chapter,” Michaels said.
In the end, Michaels delivered exactly what she needed to: a clean, controlled narrative. No mess, no extra spice. Just facts, statements, and a strong insistence that everything was done by the book.
And somewhere out there, TV courtroom writers are shaking their heads, wondering why real life can’t be just a little more dramatic.
