Darrius Morris Passed away From Heart Disease As Drugs and Alcohol Played a Role

Heart disease is the primary cause of death for former NBA player Darius Morris, with drug and alcohol abuse also playing a significant role. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reports that coronary artery disease is Darius’ official cause of death.

Drug and alcohol use—more specifically, the impacts of cocaine, hydrocodone, and ethanol—was a significant contributing role in Darius’ death, according to the ME’s death investigation summary that TMZ Sports reported. It is determined that the former guard for the Los Angeles Lakers died accidentally.

Darius Morris’s body was undiscovered for a while

Darius was discovered dead in a house in the Los Angeles region on May 2. According to the ME report, when he was checked out the next day, hydrocodone, cocaine, and alcohol were still present in his system.

The ME report further states that Darius’s body was deteriorating when he was discovered and that there were no drugs at the site. His corpse also had an unpleasant stench. His mother claims he last spoke to her on April 22, when he reported feeling unwell and had flu-like symptoms.

Darius was just 33 years old when he played four seasons in the NBA with the Lakers, 76ers, Clippers, Grizzlies, and Nets before moving abroad.
