With a fantastic performance, Jrue Holiday helped the Boston Celtics win Game 2. On social media, the basketball community paid far greater attention to his remarks made during the post-game conference.
Prior to tonight’s game, Jrue Holiday made some remarks implying that he thought Jaylen Brown was the best player on the Celtics. He did not, however, want his remarks to be misconstrued.
As a result, the two-way guard was very explicit in stating that he had no preference among his colleagues. Rather, Jrue expressed his admiration for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for their outstanding performance on the greatest stage of the NBA.
“I’ve been hearing that I prefer JB over JT and that’s not what that was. I like to praise my teammates, I like to praise my teammates when they are playing well… To compare them is something that I would never do. Just to address the comment yesterday: I do not prefer one over the other. — I prefer both. Both of them are superstars and it’s been shown out here on the biggest stage,”
Jrue Holiday sits at the podium and before taking questions, he says he wants to address his comments from yesterday where he was praising Jaylen Brown.
Sounds like he was taken out of context.

Is Jrue Holiday right about Jaylen Brown?
To be honest, Holiday never stated outright that Joe Mazzulla’s finest player was Brown. The 33-year-old did nothing more than echo Jason Kidd’s observations that Brown is a capable player who can be found on both sides of the court. Holiday said,
“It’s the first time I’m hearing that but I mean, I don’t think he’s lying. I think JB is aggressive in every single way. He’s getting to the paint, getting to the free throw line. Also making plays for other people and then he’s guarding Luka (Doncic). He’s guarding the best player,”

Jayson Tatum has proven to be the superior player in the past. Brown has, however, had superior numbers in this particular postseason. On both ends of the court, JB performed better in Game 1. Therefore, it appears that Jason Kidd was correct. But everyone noticed and disregarded the Mavericks coach’s apparent attempt to drive a rift between the elite players.
