One year later, he’s retired and divorced. The Giants, who are now $11.6 million richer despite losing one player, may have a bright spot as a result of this.

Spotrac reports that Darren’s retirement results in a $7.35 million dead cap between 2024 and 2025. But it will provide the Big Blue $11.6 million in cap room this season.
Darren Waller’s retriement frees up a lot of money
His retirement will help the New Yorkers, who are $20 million above the maximum.
The Giants acquired Waller on a three-year, $51 million contract after giving up their third-round pick to the Raiders. But his performances fell short of what the franchise had anticipated from him. He only had 52 receptions for 552 yards and one touchdown in 12 games the previous season.
These figures, however, were not shocking given that Darren had become less of a performer during the previous three seasons. Only 1035 yards and five touchdowns were amassed by the tight end in his final two seasons with the Raiders.
However, word of Waller’s retirement quickly circulated throughout social media, eliciting a range of responses from followers.
