Throughout the offseason, the 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk‘s contract negotiations have developed into a complicated story. Aiyuk’s absence of equipment on the sidelines and his stroll with general manager John Lynch during the start of the team’s training camp generated a lot of attention on social media, raising the possibility that the wideout is about to sign a contract or be moved.
GM Lynch speaks about Brandon Aiyuk’s contract
In a recent press conference, GM Lynch discussed some of these rumors as well as the ongoing contract negotiations. He underlined that both sides recognized Aiyuk’s presence on the club as a priority and started talks early in the offseason. But everything hasn’t quite come together:
“We really don’t want to characterize it. We haven’t been able to, and that’s a shame. Brandon’s a big part of our team and we expect that he will be this year.”
Lynch remained realistic despite expressing hope for Aiyuk’s future with the San Francisco 49ers. Regarding contract restructuring, he stated that there are “no absolutes” and the team is “open to anything.” Lynch also made a suggestion that Aiyuk will be attending training camp.
