Russell Westbrook confronted reporters after another frustrating night for the Sacramento Kings. The veteran guard pushed back against criticism following the team’s latest defeat. Sacramento dropped a 133-123 game to the New Orleans Pelicans. The loss marked the Kings’ 50th defeat of the season. The result deepened frustration around the struggling franchise.
During the postgame press conference, Westbrook addressed media coverage directly. He accused reporters of spreading inaccurate narratives about the team. He asked whether critics attend practices or film sessions with the team.
“Your job is to talk about the game, what’s happening in the game,” Westbrook said. “Not stir up a bunch of … stuff that is not accurate.”
“You guys are making false comments about our team and what we’re doing here, and I don’t appreciate that.”
The nine-time All-Star also defended younger teammates inside the locker room. He said constant negative commentary affects players trying to improve. Westbrook stressed that he spoke up because leadership matters during difficult seasons. He encouraged reporters to respect the effort players bring every day.
Despite the heated discussion, Westbrook produced a solid performance on the court. He scored 19 points and added 10 assists in the loss.
