Andy Reid Trolls Media About In-Game Interviews

Among the many skilled NFL coaches, Andy Reid is a well-established figure. He’s too old (sixty-six) to handle menial tasks like dealing with the media. He is addressing this by adopting a strategy from Bill Belichick, who during his coaching career became an expert in media handling.

In a Friday interview, Reid stated that he intended to restrict his communications with the media. He said that during the press briefings, reporters shouldn’t expect much from him. The Chiefs HC went on to say that even if it’s not his thing, he’s doing it because it’s necessary.

“I’m not very good during games on interviews. I’m not gonna tickle anyone’s fancy there with these interviews. I’m gonna do it, I’m an NFL team guy so I’m gonna do it. But don’t expect much.”

Many people are displeased with the NFL’s plan to have live interviews with the coaches following each game. Bill would have handled this matter in his own way if he had remained under investigation.

When interacting with the media, the eight-time Super Bowl champion coach was frequently harsh and impolite. He would often respond with a brief one-liner and a yes or no, not sharing much insider information. Andy Reid was never fond of that and frequently grinned broadly as he spoke to the press.

But it appears that he now plans to alter his strategy, particularly in this year that is so important for the Chiefs as they try to write the history books.
