There are two months until Matthew Perry‘s first anniversary, and several details surrounding his demise are still unclear. The well-known actor was discovered dead in the hot tub at his Los Angeles residence. While toxicological testing was not first thought to be required, the actor’s autopsy revealed that drugs were present in his system.
On Thursday, August 15, 2024, two doctors and Perry’s personal assistant were among the five individuals charged with giving him ketamine.
During a press conference, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada stated:
“They knew that what they were doing put Matthew Perry in great danger, but they did it anyway,”
Matthew Perry’s final remarks prior to his passing
Matthew Perry made one last request to one of these defendants, Kenneth Iwamasa, before he passed away in his home’s hot tub.
The performer urged him to “inject him with a strong one,” referring to a second dose of ketamine just before he was discovered dead, according to the assistant.
Iwamasa claimed that Perry was at the height of his ketamine use and would beg him for three shots each day. Perry requested an injection from his assistant at approximately 8:30 a.m., again while watching a movie, four hours later, and again while getting ready for the hot tub, according to documents provided to the prosecution.
Perry had already passed away when Iwamasa returned from his errands outside the house. Matthew Perry was giving himself ketamine by prescription, according to the prosecution, but the last time he received an injection correctly was two weeks prior to his passing.
