The Dallas Cowboys’ losing streak left the Jerry Jones-led team in a precarious situation when they lost to the Saints in Week 2 and the Ravens in Week 3. To make matters worse, these defeats came against their home team. Richard Sherman expressed his concerns regarding America’s Team, the same squad that has been winning at home for the last few years.
Sherman remembered alluded to the Cowboys’ diminishing home edge on his most recent radio episode: “They’ve won a lot of ball games. I want to say they were undefeated at home last year, winning something like 16 straight,”
He went on to express concern over the team’s decline, pointing out that the defense was unable to stop the Saints’ run attack. He said : “To lose back-to-back games—they got blown out by the New Orleans Saints, who ran the football all over the Cowboys.”

Sherman criticized the team’s defensive coordinator after addressing the obvious indicators of the team’s general poor play. Sherman, who had devoted his professional life to researching the “chess game” that is American football, did not think twice to point the finger at Mike Zimmer while discussing the defense’s flaws with the Cowboys. Richard Sherman claims that unless the club had solid defensive lineman, Zimmer’s unit had been having trouble stopping the run for a while.
“Unless he had big defensive tackles at the nose and three-technique like when he had Linval Joseph, teams have had success running against that two-high quarter’s defense he’s known for,”
The former cornerback made matters worse by saying that Zimmer’s plan, which was effective in the past, is antiquated in the present era, akin to an antiquated playbook that was unable to change to fit the rules of the game.
