Isiah Thomas Loves Caitlin Clark’s Remark That She and Angel Reese Don’t Give a Damn About Individual Honors

Caitlin Clark, who is currently having an incredible rookie season, has been transparent about her thoughts on individual honors. She disclosed that during the season, neither she nor her opponent, Angel Reese, gave such recognition any thought. Isiah Thomas immediately gave this remark his vote of confidence.

As a result, Zeke agreed with Clark’s remarks on X. He cited a post with the following description, which emphasized her comments:

“Let it be known: Catlin Clarke Angel Reese, play to WIN!”

The recent road game between Clark’s Indiana Fever and Reese’s Chicago Sky was the cause of the problem. This matchup gained dramatic flair from the great rookies facing off at the Wintrust Arena. The game quickly lived up to the anticipation.

With a double-double of 12 rebounds and 10 points, Reese grabbed her 399th rebound of the year. She was able to beat WNBA icon Tina Charles’ record for the most rebounds in a rookie season thanks to her accomplishment.

But Clark stole the show with a night of career-high scoring. She finished with 31 points on 8 of 14 field goals and 5 of 9 three-pointers. With 12 assists, she helped her team win 100–81 points by facilitating the offensive plays.

Caitlin Clark’s statement about individual awards

Many thought that this game finally put an end to the argument about who should win the 2024 Rookie of the Year award. Clark easily defeated her rival, Reese, to win the prize thanks to her outstanding performance. The Iowa native, meanwhile, wasn’t entirely in agreement with this viewpoint.

The 22-year-old, at the post-game press conference, minimized the significance of individual awards. She declared, speaking for both Reese and herself, that their only goal was to get their teams to the postseason.

“I think me and Angel would both give you the same answer. You don’t wake up and think about individual awards. I know that’s what all of you think we do… That’s what everybody wants to make this about… Both of our teams are competing for playoff spots. That’s our main focus. That’s a selfish thing to just care about an individual award.”

Thomas was sufficiently impressed by this team-first mentality. To put things in perspective, Zeke was one of the few NBA greats who played their whole career for one team. He led the Detroit Pistons to two championship victories by remaining by their side through good times and bad.

The 63-year-old was thrilled to find that the well-known figures of the younger generation had the same viewpoint. His admiration for Clark and other WNBA rising talents was further increased by it.
