Anthony Davis is off to a great start in the 2024–25 season. The 6′ 10″ forward has taken over as the team’s leader and has been dominating the Lakers on both ends of the court. With 35 points in tonight’s victory, AD did something no other Laker has done in 19 years: he entered Kobe Bryant territory.
After falling behind the Suns by 22 points early on, Davis and Austin Reaves took over and helped the club win in a thrilling comeback. In addition to his 35 points, Davis finished the game with eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal, helping the Lakers defeat the Suns 123-116.
In the two games thus far, this was Davis’ second effort with 30 points or more. Davis had 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and a steal in the first night. By doing this, Davis has become the first player to start the season with back-to-back games with 30 points or more since Kobe Bryant in 2005–06.

In 2005–06, Kobe had four 30-point games to start the season. He recorded 37 points against the Nuggets, 37 points against the Hawks, 39 points against the Suns, and 33 points against the Nuggets.
Given that AD is already halfway there, Lakers supporters would like to see Davis match Kobe and start the season with four or more performances. After all, the Lakers have achieved another impressive statistic since Anthony Davis took over.
