Travis Kelce silenced his detractors with his first score of the season during the Chiefs’ AFC West matchup against the Raiders, capping up weeks of conjecture on his lackluster start.
During a crucial third-and-goal play in the second quarter, the veteran tight end, who had been remarkably silent during the first few weeks of the 2024 NFL season, snagged a crucial touchdown throw from Patrick Mahomes. In addition to giving Kansas City a slim lead, the goal was a game-changer for Kelce, who had previously had trouble finding his rhythm.

Can this be a turnaround for Travis Kelce ?
With only eight receptions for 69 yards in the Chiefs’ first three games, Kelce’s early-season performance has raised questions. There were rumors that defenders had figured out how to stop one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Kelce’s contribution to Kansas City’s offense increased during Week 4 against the Chargers, when he recorded a season-high 89 receiving yards after wide receiver Rashee Rice left the game due to a knee injury.
In the next game against the Saints, Kelce caught nine receptions for 70 yards while being targeted ten times, maintaining that trend. In the Chiefs’ subsequent game against the 49ers, he managed just 17 yards, but his stats took a sharp turn for the worst.
However, his teammates continued to support him despite this dry time. Members of Kansas City’s receiving unit, under the leadership of Rice, were spotted donning T-shirts to support Kelce before to their game versus the Chargers, underscoring the close-knit relationship within the team.

In the team’s Week 8 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Patrick Mahomes achieved yet another career milestone. Mahomes became the fastest player in NFL history to exceed 30,000 passing yards late in the first half with a 16-yard ball to rookie DeAndre Hopkins.
