Tyrese Haliburton made a fantastic start to the 2023–24 season and was in the running for MVP, but he lost his form in the second half and was unable to play well enough to qualify for individual awards. The Pacers star hopes to earn the Most Improved Player award and be healthy for the duration of the next season.
In 69 games during the previous season, Haliburton averaged 20.1 points, 10.9 assists, and 3.9 rebounds. Despite shooting 36.4% from three-point range and 47.7% from the field, the guard was unable to secure the coveted MVP title.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 2016–17 campaign serves as an illustration of what Haliburton must accomplish in the future campaign to be the winner. With 16.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 80 games, the Bucks star concluded the 2015–16 campaign. He had a 25.7% three-point shooting percentage and a 50.6% field goal percentage.
The center improved his averages in all of the major metrics the next season. He averaged 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks in 80 games at the end of the season. He shot 27.2% from the three-point line and 52.1% from the field, increasing his shooting accuracy.
Giannis received his 2017 MIP prize for the performance. To win his first major individual award, Haliburton will need to learn from Antetokounmpo and do the same. He has a strong chance of winning the award if he continues to play the way he did at the start of the previous season.
