Prior to the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders has been the subject of a good deal of controversy and criticism. This was something to be expected. In addition to being a top prospect in this draft class at the most crucial position in the game, Sanders is the son of one of the greatest NFL players ever, Deion Sanders. Although he is by no means the first QB prospect to face criticism, his father undoubtedly intensifies the discourse about him.
According to Josina Anderson, one quarterbacks coach thought Sanders was “brash” and “arrogant” during his interview with clubs at the NFL combine. Sanders’ social media response was straightforward: “How u know.”
Sanders has been predicted to lose in the first round or his current status as a potential, even in comments or analysis that do not directly criticize him as a person.

“We understood to block out the noise. There’s a lot of critics, there’s a lot of hate. We know what the do, we know how to handle that. So we remain happy”

However, Sanders claims he just tries to drown out the noise because he is used to this. While at the Big 12 Pro Day, Sanders told NFL Network: “We always understood to block out the noise, even from Jackson State and Colorado,”Â
“There’s a lot of critics, there’s a lot of hate. We know what the do, we know how to handle that in every way so we remain happy.”
Sanders is thankful for the resources, including his Hall of Fame father, but acknowledges that the pre-draft process has been a “learning experience” for him.
Additionally, not all of the criticism directed at Sanders has been unfavorable. Both Fox expert Joel Klatt and longtime NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. have praised Sanders highly, naming him one of their top quarterbacks in this class over Cam Ward.
