Jimmy Butler‘s declaration that he no longer enjoyed playing basketball with the Heat was the last straw for the team. He made several comments about his diminishing happiness in Miami during news conferences, and it was (part of) the reason he asked to be traded.
Naturally, it’s difficult to be happy when your club has trouble finishing the season above .500. However, it’s evident that Jimmy is hooping with an unrestrained sense of delight ever since he arrived in Golden State.
Jimmy is one of the main reasons the Warriors advanced to the postseason and seized a decisive 3-1 lead in the first-round series tonight. Butler’s fingerprints were all over the victory after he scored 27 points and pulled down the game’s crucial rebound.
Jimmy Butler’s jab at the Heat
In an interview with Allie LaForce following the game, Butler talked about how his new teammates showered him with adulation, even going so far as to say:
“this is why we got you.” “It means the world. I’d die for these guys, it’s so fun,” “I got my joy back, as some would say.”
“I got my joy back, as some would say” 😆

Following the victory, Butler was thrilled and even joked around with Buddy Hield in the interview. People, however, were unable to get past the remark that “got my joy back.” They lost badly to the Cavaliers by 55 points in Game 4, which some took as a jab at Pat Riley.
Playoffs Jimmy did a bit of everything for the Dubs today, and he was in full force. In addition to scoring a team-high 27 points, Jimmy had a stellar defensive game, blocking one shot and dishing out six assists while committing no turnovers. In addition, he made five consecutive free throws to end the game and scored the final seven points for the Warriors.
One can never tell if Jimmy’s happiness is due to the humiliating way the Heat were defeated or a forthcoming second-round matchup (perhaps against another old team of his, the Timberwolves).
There is no doubt that Jimmy Butler is rediscovering his love for basketball, and the rest of the NBA should be wary of hearing that.
