Have you all heard about this French teen sensation, Alicia Tournebize? She has gone gone viral after pulling off a sick two-handed dunk on the basketball court. I mean, who knew a 17-year-old could have such hops!
Alicia’s video is making the rounds on the socials, with people everywhere talking about her amazing skills on the court. And let me tell you, she’s definitely got some serious talent. Her dunk was clean and she made it look effortless.
At 6ft 4in, Alicia has been dunking with ease for some time, having coupled her height with explosive athleticism, and is now one of the hottest young prospects in women’s basketball.
To be fair, she did have a massive head start. She’s the daughter of five-time French League champion Isabelle Fijalkowski, and her aunt, Brigitte Tournebize, also played professional basketball in France.
The teenager could be the best of the lot, having joined the Youth system at French club JA Vichy at the age of six before moving to Tango Bourges in the French League, playing for their under-15 side and then earning herself a training-intern contract on the main roster this year.
She became the first Frenchwoman on record to dunk in an official game last September, but she wasn’t caught dunking on camera until this February, when she went viral for an effortless slam in April.
She went viral for another impressive dunk during a 25-point France win over Belgium, which saw the French claim Bronze at the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket on Sunday.
The teenage star finished the contest with a game-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocked shots. The performance included a highlight reel play in the fourth quarter that saw her get out in front on a fast break and jam it with two hands.
It’s awesome to see young athletes like Alicia breaking barriers and getting recognition for their skills. Who knows, maybe we’ll see her playing in the WNBA one day! Keep an eye out for this rising star, because she’s definitely one to watch.
