Surveillance video showing boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the neck and hair during a confrontation at a Miami-area strip club was played in court Tuesday as part of a civil lawsuit via TMZ Sports.
The footage, consisting of eight clips presented by the woman’s attorney, depicts Davis confronting Courtney Rossel in a back hallway at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami Gardens shortly before 4 a.m. on Oct. 27, 2025. Davis, then 30, appears to grab Rossel by the neck or hair, push her through the hallway, down a set of stairs and out an exterior door leading to a parking lot, according to descriptions from court proceedings and the woman’s legal team. Rossel then turns and runs back inside the club.
The incident occurred while Rossel was working as a VIP waitress at the club. She filed a police report days later alleging Davis grabbed her by the hair and throat and forcibly removed her. Club management reviewed the surveillance video and prepared an incident report supporting her account, records show.
Davis, 31, was arrested in January on charges of misdemeanor battery and felony attempted kidnapping after a warrant was issued. Prosecutors later dropped a false imprisonment charge, but the battery case remains pending. A judge ordered him to stay away from Rossel.
In the civil lawsuit, Rossel alleges assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Davis has filed a countersuit seeking more than $20 million, claiming the allegations are part of an extortion scheme and that they caused the cancellation of a planned exhibition fight against Jake Paul. His legal team said after Tuesday’s hearing they were disappointed with the court’s ruling and that “the video does not tell the entire story.”
Rossel’s attorney called Davis’ countersuit “simply ridiculous” and said a motion to dismiss it has been filed. The attorney added that the video is consistent with Rossel’s account and the club’s incident report.
Davis, who fights as a lightweight and holds a professional record of 30-0-1 with 28 knockouts, has not commented publicly on the latest court developments. His next boxing bout has not been announced.
The criminal case is ongoing in Miami-Dade County.
