Ayesha Howard, the mother of Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ young daughter, is publicly criticizing the NBA player after a Georgia judge set his child support obligation at $3,222 per month, saying the situation has left children growing up without their father.
Howard, 38, shared a lengthy statement on Instagram under her handle little.ms.golden addressing the court outcome and broader issues of absent fathers. In the post, which circulated widely on X, she wrote that she is “the mother of one out of three children who have been abandoned by a celebrated athlete.”
“Because of my platform, my story receives the most attention. But beyond the entertainment value, the clicks, and the views, the painful reality is that three children are growing up fatherless,” Howard said. “This is not due to a lack of resources, health, or opportunity it is a conscious choice. A man can take the jersey off his back shoes off his feet and to sign for fans, yet his own three children are missing that same signature on their birth certificates and have never even met him.”
She rejected characterizations of mothers in these situations as “gold diggers,” claiming none of the women initially filed for support and that Edwards instead took them to court. Howard also cited U.S. Census Bureau figures on Black children living in single-parent households and described a “devastating cycle” of normalized absent fathers in the community.
The Georgia ruling came after Howard did not appear for trial or present evidence seeking a higher amount. Court documents noted Edwards had already paid roughly $110,000 in support since January 2025, including an initial $20,000 payment and subsequent voluntary $5,000 monthly payments. A separate California case filed by Howard was dismissed after she failed to establish residency or appear; the judge also labeled her a vexatious litigant.
Howard and Edwards share daughter Aubri, born in late 2024. Outside of Edwards, Howard has a son, Jason (born in 2015), with rapper Lil Baby (Dominique Jones). Reports have previously referenced significant support payments from that relationship as well.
Edwards, 24, has been linked to multiple children with different women. He has publicly been involved with the mother of at least one of his other children and married Shannon Jackson in July 2026; the couple shares a daughter. The precise number of his children and the details of his involvement with each have been subjects of ongoing public and legal scrutiny.
Howard’s statement frames the child support figure and the absence of a relationship with Edwards as part of a larger pattern of parental choice rather than financial limitation. Edwards has not publicly responded to the latest Instagram post. The Georgia order establishes the current monthly support level for Aubri while jurisdiction disputes between the states appear resolved in favor of Georgia handling the matter.
