Days before his arrest, the man found guilty of stalking Caitlin Clark repeatedly told FBI investigators that he just had “an imaginary relationship” with the WNBA player, according to new police footage that TMZ Sports was able to get.
Following accusations by authorities that Michael Lewis had started “sending numerous threats and sexually explicit messages” to Clark on December 12, 2024, the body camera tape was taken outside a hotel room in Indianapolis on January 8.
Lewis is questioned for many minutes about his troubling social media posts by a couple FBI agents and numerous cops from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in the video.
Lewis downplays his online conduct and tells them he’s on vacation in Indianapolis. He once consents to a search of his hotel room by law authorities to ensure that he is not carrying any weapons or other potentially harmful objects.
Lewis eventually acknowledges that he was directing his online communications at Clark, but he insisted that “it’s just an imaginary relationship.”
Everyone left the scene after Lewis vowed to better watch his online behavior moving forward after being repeatedly admonished to avoid tweeting about Clark.
However, Lewis’ messages persisted, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, and on January 12 he was taken into custody and charged with a crime.
