Finally speaking out about her arrest for domestic abuse, Sha’Carri Richardson apologizes to Christian Coleman for what she did and promises to seek therapy.
For the first time, the Olympic gold champion openly discussed her encounter with police on July 27 on her Instagram page. In a video, she apologized for her actions.
She stated that she wants to hold herself accountable and is looking for outside help to ensure that she achieves just that. She stated:
“I refuse to run away,”, “not refuse to run, but I refuse to run away — and face everything that comes to me head on because everything on the other side is greater but you’ve got to go through in order to get there.”
“He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past,”
“Due to my past trauma and pain, I was blind and blocked off to not only receive it but give it,”. “I love him and to him I can’t apologize enough. My apologize should be just as loud as my actions honestly louder. To Christian I love you and I am so sorry.”
Richardson went into further detail about the situation on Tuesday morning, apologizing to her partner Coleman in a slide on her Instagram Stories. He said: “People have emotions and stuff like that,”, “and she has things she gotta work on for herself. So do I, so do you.”
In the days following the arrest, Coleman, one of the world’s fastest sprinters, told reporters that he did not think she should have been arrested for the matter.
