Only in 2025 could Chauncey Billups — yes, the Portland Trail Blazers’ head coach — walk out of FBI custody and go viral for his hoodie. Forget the handcuffs, folks. The real crime here, the text on his hoodie got everyone talking.
Twitter (X), of course, is having a field day over the inscription on Chauncey Billups’ hoodie.
Billups was arraigned in Portland on conspiracy charges to commit wire fraud and money laundering. The indictment was filed in New York’s Eastern District, but he had his initial hearing at the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse in Oregon.
According to reports, he appeared in court at 1:30 p.m. and responded “Yes” when asked whether he understood his rights. The arraignment lasted eight minutes; he was subsequently released under strict conditions.
The conditions include remaining in Oregon and Colorado, surrendering his passport, and, of course, a substantial bond. The amount was not disclosed.
Billups is also not permitted to contact any of the other 30-plus people arrested by the FBI, including Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Damon Jones.
The FBI may have questions and doing their job but the internet is only interested in Billups’ hoodie.
