Paige Shiver Admitted Affair With Sherrone Moore to Michigan Before Arrest and Firing

New details have emerged suggesting that the “credible evidence” leading to Sherrone Moore’s firing and subsequent arrest came after the staff member involved in the alleged relationship began cooperating with university investigators.

A report from Front Office Sports indicates that while the University of Michigan’s investigation into Moore began with an anonymous tip in November, the inquiry had stalled until the “persons involved” began “to tell the truth” in the days leading up to his termination.

This cooperation appears to be the catalyst that transformed a stagnant inquiry into a swift dismissal for cause.

The timeline aligns with 911 dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, in which the staff member—widely identified as Moore’s executive assistant, Paige Shiver—told dispatchers that Moore had “stalked her for months” prior to the alleged assault on Wednesday. The claim of months-long stalking suggests the relationship had ended well before the investigation reached its critical turning point this week.

According to Front Office Sports, the initial anonymous tip did not provide enough grounds for action. It was only when the university received direct corroboration from those involved that officials secured the evidence needed to fire Moore for violating university policy.

The sequence of events suggests a rapid escalation:

  • November: An anonymous tip sparks an internal review, but it gains little traction.

  • Recent Days: The staff member reportedly begins cooperating with investigators, confirming the relationship.

  • Wednesday Afternoon: Michigan fires Moore, citing “credible evidence” of misconduct.

  • Wednesday Evening: Moore allegedly goes to the staff member’s home, leading to a 911 call where she reports an attack and stalking, resulting in his arrest.

University officials have not publicly named the staff member, but sources confirmed to Front Office Sports that she was listed as the executive assistant to the head coach.

Michigan’s next steps will be stabilizing the football program—including finding a new head coach—and ensuring the welfare of Moore’s family as well as the staffer, the source said. As for rumors that the university held off until after National Signing Day to ensure recruits didn’t bolt, the source said that was untrue, and that the university acted on the new, credible information as soon as it came to light.

Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Friday. Michigan has appointed offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell as interim head coach while the program navigates the fallout.
