Atlanta Hawks planning to trade four-time All-star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards.
NBA Twitter, please sit down. The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly ready to trade Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. Yes, that Trae Young. The logo-shooting, villain-loving, hair-defying franchise centerpiece. Pack it up, folks. Chaos season has arrived early.
After years of Trae being the face, voice, and occasional headache of the Hawks, Atlanta seems ready to press the reset button again. Apparently, the front office woke up and chose confusion, or maybe courage. Hard to tell.
Now, according to ESPN, Young‘s representatives, led by Aaron Mintz of CAA, have entered ‘positive and collaborative’ talks with Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh.
The decision to move on follows a fractured summer where the Hawks front office reportedly elected not to offer Young a lucrative contract extension.
The point guard currently has two seasons remaining on his deal, worth approximately $95 million, including a player option for the 2026-27 season.
It remains to be seen where Young could end up but early reports have suggested that the Washington Wizards are among the frontrunners for a potential trade.
Other teams linked to the 27-year-old include the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Nothing is official yet, but the rumor alone has shaken the league. If Atlanta really pulls the trigger, it’s the end of an era. A loud, entertaining, occasionally frustrating era.
So buckle up. Trades are coming, feelings will be hurt, hot takes will be reckless, and somewhere, Trae Young is probably smiling, knowing the NBA never stays boring for long.
