The NBA postponed Saturday’s game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old Minneapolis man by federal agents earlier in the day, league sources told ESPN.
The game, originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Target Center, was rescheduled for the same time Sunday. The teams will play a back-to-back with another game Monday in Minneapolis.
The Timberwolves-Warriors game in Minneapolis has been postponed by the NBA, sources tell ESPN, in wake of a man shot and killed Saturday in a confrontation with federal agents in the city. It's the second shooting there in a week, third this month, involving a federal officer.

The shooting occurred Saturday morning in the Eat Street neighborhood of south Minneapolis, roughly two miles from the arena, during a targeted federal immigration enforcement operation.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the man, a U.S. citizen and lawful gun owner with a permit to carry, was armed with a handgun. He approached Border Patrol officers and violently resisted attempts to disarm him, prompting agents to fire defensive shots, DHS said. The incident is under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said preliminary information indicates multiple federal agents were involved and noted the man had only minor prior interactions with law enforcement, such as traffic tickets. Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the federal response, citing video that appeared to show masked agents pummeling the man before shooting him.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz activated the State Emergency Operations Center, called for ICE and related federal operations to withdraw from the state, and urged an independent state-led investigation, stating the federal government “cannot be trusted to lead this.”
The ACLU of Minnesota and national ACLU described the shooting as agents brutally beating the man in front of witnesses before firing multiple shots while standing over him. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the agents from Minnesota and an end to such operations.

This marks the third shooting involving federal officers in Minneapolis this month. On Jan. 7, 37-year-old Renée Nicole Good (also referred to as Renee Macklin Good or Renee Good), a U.S. citizen and mother of three, was fatally shot by an ICE agent during an operation. The Timberwolves held a moment of silence before their Jan. 8 game to honor her.
The incidents have fueled ongoing protests against the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota, with demonstrations escalating after the latest shooting, including confrontations near the scene where federal agents deployed tear gas and flash bangs.
No further details on the latest victim’s name were immediately released. The NBA had no additional public comment on the postponement beyond the schedule change.
