Yaya Mayweather Apologizes For Calling NBA Youngboy a Deadbeat Dad

Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., publicly apologized to rapper NBA Youngboy on Friday, addressing recent comments about their co-parenting arrangement for their 5-year-old son, Kentrell Jr.

In a statement shared on her Instagram account and reposted by media outlets, the 25-year-old Mayweather expressed regret for airing personal issues online, saying she “acted out of frustration” after NBA Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, delayed reimbursing expenses for their son’s recent birthday party. “I shouldn’t have brought our business to the internet,” Mayweather wrote, adding that the 26-year-old rapper “does help” with their child despite her earlier claims.

The apology follows Mayweather’s social media posts earlier this week accusing NBA Youngboy of being absent and prioritizing his other children. The pair, who dated intermittently from 2018 to 2021, have had a tumultuous history, including a 2020 incident where Mayweather was arrested for allegedly stabbing one of NBA Youngboy’s ex-girlfriends, leading to a plea deal and probation.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native has 11 children with multiple women and recently married Jazlyn Mychelle Hayes in 2023.

Fans and online commentators have mixed reactions, with some praising Mayweather’s maturity and others questioning the ongoing drama. Neither party has announced plans for further public statements.
