Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian posed topless for the cover of Complex magazine, where she opened up about her latest business venture: a collaboration between her Skims brand and Nike to launch a new line of women’s activewear.
The photoshoot, captured by photographer Jeremy Soma at Kardashian’s Calabasas headquarters, features her in a monotone dark grey zip-up long-sleeve top, baggy pants and heels during the accompanying interview.
In the cover story, Kardashian described the NikeSKIMS partnership as a standalone brand designed to boost Nike’s women’s business with lifestyle-focused sportswear. She compared it to Nike’s first new brand launch since the Jordan line in 1997, emphasizing its focus on seamless, body-conforming pieces.
The Spring 2026 collection draws inspiration from ballet-core aesthetics, featuring items in black and pink hues made with performance fabrics and Nike innovations. Key pieces include a simplified version of the Air Rift sneaker in breathable mesh and satin finishes, with a pink tone incorporating SKIMS-branded grip patterns.
Kardashian stressed minimalism in the design, saying, “Simplicity is what I’m about. I wanted it to blend in, and I think it does that well.” She noted that other sneaker silhouettes were considered but rejected for being too bulky.
The line will include core styles in rotation alongside seasonal exclusives, categorized by materials such as stretch shine and vintage woven. Kardashian highlighted the use of advanced fabrications, stating, “We’re exploring performance fabrications and innovations that Nike offers.”
Launched in 2021 as shapewear, Skims has expanded into loungewear and apparel, prioritizing inclusivity with wide size ranges and accessible pricing.
“I just knew if we had a really good product, people would come back over and over again,” she said.
Kardashian praised the collaboration, calling Nike “the best of the best” and adding, “We shot for the moon and landed there.” The Spring 2026 drop will feature celebrity endorsements, including Lisa from BLACKPINK.
Her influences include internet trends, pop culture and collaborations with dancers for campaigns, aiming for long-term sustainability and broad appeal to women.
Kardashian also discussed her ongoing family ties with ex-husband Kanye West, emphasizing co-parenting and shared memories.
“We’ll always be family. We both know that. We will be okay, and there’s so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids. I couldn’t deny the Yeezy heel, so I had to shout it out,” she said, referring to wearing a Yeezy heel during a recent outing.
She spoke about preserving items from West’s career for their children, saying, “I collect everything—they’re memories. Maybe I’m a memory hoarder. I think I have [every costume from all of Kanye’s tours] saved for our kids. From Glow in the Dark to Watch the Throne, including all the Margiela looks from his Yeezus tour, and the Givenchy looks from Watch the Throne. I have the Yeezus mountain and the Lamborghini when they performed at the 2012 BET Awards.”
Reflecting on their daughter North, Kardashian noted similarities to West: “She’s like her dad in that if she likes it, that’s enough for her, and she doesn’t really care about outside opinions.” She added humorously about North’s music endeavors, “I now have to call her dad and be like, ‘How much should we charge for beats?’ because everyone’s calling and asking.”
