Nick Emmanwori hurt his ankle during Seahawks practice on Wednesday before the team’s Super Bowl LX matchup against the Patriots.
ESPN’s Kalyn Kahler, Seattle’s designated pool reporter for the week, claims that the rookie second-round pick sustained the injury late in practice while defending a pass. Before a number of players and coaches approached him to console him, he allegedly left the field on his own.
According to Kahler, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald stated about Emmanwori:
“He had an ankle today,”. “We brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps.”
Emmanwori was selected for the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2025 after recording 81 tackles, 11 pass deflections, 2.5 sacks, and an interception. He was drafted out of South Carolina this past spring.
With almost 50% of his snaps in the box during the regular season and 15.1% during the postseason at the line of scrimmage, the 21-year-old is already among the league’s more versatile defenders.
This Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET, the Seahawks and Patriots will square off in Super Bowl LX at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.
