Body camera footage released Friday by TMZ Sports shows former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore sobbing in handcuffs hours after the university fired him for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
The video, obtained from Moore’s Dec. 10, 2025, arrest, captures the 40-year-old coach in Michigan Wolverines gear sitting in a black SUV in a church parking lot. Officers approach, instruct him to keep his hands visible and order him out of the vehicle. Moore appears emotional and complains of a bad shoulder as he is handcuffed. Once in the back of a patrol car, he tells an officer he had just been fired.
“That’s part of life, I guess,” Moore says. “They wanted to fire me anyways.”
When asked how he was feeling, Moore mentions a therapist and adds, “I don’t wanna hurt myself, man. I got a beautiful family, kids.” Officers searching him learn he had scissors in his vehicle.
The arrest followed an incident at the home of Paige Shiver, Moore’s former executive assistant. Authorities said Moore confronted Shiver after his termination, barged into her residence and threatened self-harm with kitchen knives and scissors. His wife, Kelli Moore, called 911 to report the suicide threat.
The University of Michigan announced Moore’s firing the same day, citing “credible evidence” of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Shiver, who had ended the relationship and cooperated with the university’s investigation, later said she had endured years of manipulation.
Moore initially faced felony charges of home invasion and stalking, plus a misdemeanor breaking-and-entering count. On March 6 he reached a plea deal, pleading no contest to two misdemeanors — malicious use of an electronic communication device in a domestic relationship and trespassing — in exchange for dismissal of the felony. Sentencing is scheduled for April 14.
Shiver is no longer employed by the university; her contract was not renewed. Her attorneys have indicated a possible lawsuit against the school and Moore is still under consideration.
Moore, who succeeded Jim Harbaugh as head coach and led the Wolverines for two seasons, has not commented publicly on the footage.
