Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore told police in bodycam footage that his executive assistant and alleged mistress, Paige Shiver, orchestrated a revenge plot against him after he attempted to end their relationship, leading to his arrest and dismissal from the program.
Moore, 40, made the claims while sobbing in a hospital room hours after his Dec. 10, 2025, arrest in Pittsfield Township, according to footage obtained by TMZ Sports and released Monday. He insisted he “didn’t do anything wrong and would never hurt Shiver,” describing her as a staffer who turned on him when he tried to break things off.
“I tried to break up with her,” Moore said in the video, adding that firing her or ending the affair would have prompted a lawsuit. “She’s out to get me.”
The two-hour bodycam recording, captured by Pittsfield police, shows Moore in handcuffs and Michigan gear shortly after university officials fired him for an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. He was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation after authorities said he went to Shiver’s home, confronted her over the firing and threatened self-harm with butter knives and scissors. Shiver’s attorney called 911, reporting that Moore had harassed her for years.
Moore, who led the Wolverines for two seasons after Jim Harbaugh’s departure, repeatedly asked officers to let him call his wife, Kelli Moore, to speak with their three children. He expressed fear that his arrest would become public and leave him with a criminal record. “They wanted to fire me anyways,” he told one officer.
Moore initially faced felony charges of home invasion and stalking, plus misdemeanor breaking and entering. He reached a plea deal last month, pleading no contest to two misdemeanors — malicious use of an electronic communication device in a domestic relationship and trespassing. Sentencing is set for April 14.
Shiver, 32, who no longer works at Michigan, has publicly accused Moore of years of “manipulation, harassment and exploitation.” She has not ruled out a lawsuit against Moore or the university.
Moore and his wife appeared together at a February court hearing. University officials have declined to comment further on the internal investigation that led to his termination.
The scandal erupted the same day Moore was fired, just before the team’s bowl preparations. Michigan has not named a permanent replacement.
