Teacher Ashley Fisler Charged For Having Relations With Student In Car And Classroom

Another headline that sounds like it came straight out of a bad TV drama, except it’s very real. Teacher Ashley Fisler has been arrested after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Yes, in places where learning is supposed to happen. Like a classroom. And, for reasons no one can logically defend, also in a car, because clearly, bad decisions need multiple locations.

According to reports, the situation went far beyond anything remotely acceptable between a teacher and a student. This wasn’t a misunderstanding, this wasn’t “taken out of context,” this was a full-on violation of trust, common sense, and basic professional boundaries. You know, the kind of boundaries that are usually explained on day one of “How Not to Ruin Your Career 101.”

Ashley Fisler, 36, taught social studies at the Orchard Valley Middle School in Washington Township, Gloucester County, from 2014 to 2023, New Jersey 101.5 reported. Her purported victim — now an adult — alleged the pair had a sexual relationship while he was her pupil in 2021.

Investigators later discovered several text exchanges between Fisler and the victim that corroborated some of the sordid details he described, the outlet reported.

Fisler was charged with six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree official misconduct.

The top charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison, while both second-degree charges carry a maximum of 10 years.

Fisler and the boy had intercourse and oral sex in her car on two occasions, and twice she performed oral sex on him in her classroom, he told police.

That classroom appeared to be the same one where her husband proposed in 2018 in front of shocked students, a mind-boggling social media photo shows.

The real focus here should be on accountability and the serious nature of the allegations. This isn’t just gossip or trending topic material. It involves a breach of trust in a place that’s supposed to be safe for students. That’s the part that actually matters beneath all the noise.

Still, you can’t help but wonder how someone gets to this point. At what moment does a person think, “Yes, this is a great idea that will definitely end well”?

In the end, this story serves as yet another reminder that some lines simply shouldn’t be crossed, especially not by the person holding the gradebook.
