For years, A’ja Wilson has been dominating basketball courts, collecting trophies, blocking shots, and making defenders question their career choices. But now the WNBA superstar is admitting she’s thinking about something bigger than basketball.
And no, not another championship ring.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, A’ja revealed that one of her biggest personal dreams is becoming a wife and a mother someday. Yes, the same woman who terrifies opponents is also dreaming about family life, bedtime stories, and probably yelling “clean your room” with MVP energy.
This isn’t the first time she has subtly hinted to her boyfriend Bam Adebayo that she wants a different type of ring.
Honestly, that future child is never winning an argument.
A’ja explained that she’s starting to think more about life beyond basketball, which makes sense. At some point every athlete realizes there are only so many years you can spend running up and down a court before your knees start sending threatening emails to your brain.
“I would love to just dive into being a wife, being a mother,” said Wilson. She also explained that being present for her loved ones remains a top priority, adding, “Being an amazing daughter to my parents, that is always my number one goal.”
Wilson also shared a sweet moment about her relationship with her mother and their plans to travel the world together the in the future.
“My mom’s like, ‘Well, I want to go to cities I’ve never been to.’ I’m like, ‘Well, we got a long list to do, girl.’”
This is still A’ja Wilson we’re talking about. Future applicants better come prepared with emotional maturity, patience, confidence, and probably elite rebounding skills.
Still, it’s cool seeing one of basketball’s biggest stars open up about life beyond the spotlight. Championships are great, MVP trophies are shiny, but eventually everybody wants something deeper than sold-out arenas and highlight reels.
Even superstars want a family sometimes.
