What started as a family trying to protect their sister ended in absolute tragedy. Now, Antwan Carter is facing murder charges after police say he fatally shot brothers Gianni Pierre and Jaheim Pierre during a violent confrontation inside his apartment.
According to reports, the shooting happened around noon on Saturday after tensions boiled over inside Carter’s apartment. Gianni, 28, and Jaheim, 23, allegedly rushed over to protect their sister, who had reportedly been dating Carter for about 4 years. Family members were said to be concerned about the relationship for a long time, and sadly, that concern ended in the worst possible way.
Police say a scuffle broke out before gunfire erupted. By the end of it, two brothers were dead, a family was shattered, and another relationship ended with handcuffs instead of closure.
Carter is accused of leaving the apartment, going to his car, and returning with an item he had retrieved from the vehicle.
“I bet one of you won’t open up,” he shouted, according to police.
He was armed with a Glock 9mm handgun – and shot Gianni, who was sitting on a couch. Gianni died minutes after arriving at the city’s Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Jaheim charged toward his sister after coming under fire and she was left covered in blood. He was found bleeding in the closet, WPLG reported.
Carter was arrested after telling one cop, “I am the one; I have the firearm.”
He also claimed the brothers had “squared up with both fists in the air ready to fight again” before opening fire.
He said he left the apartment to get “air” and went to his car to retrieve his wallet and keys.
Meanwhile, the woman told cops that Carter blamed her for the deadly tragedy.
“See what you made me do,” Carter allegedly said.
Stories like this are a reminder of how quickly situations can spiral when anger, fear, and weapons collide. One argument, one fight, a few seconds, and suddenly multiple lives are destroyed.
Now, instead of healing family drama, everyone involved is left dealing with police reports, courtrooms, and unimaginable grief.
