Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has missed some voluntary offseason workouts to support his girlfriend, singer Madison Beer, on her European tour, as the pop star recently discussed her desire for a traditional engagement ring.
Beer appeared on the podcast “In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele,” where she spoke openly about proposals and jewelry preferences. She noted that while one of her friends was proposed to with a watch, she has different tastes.
“I actually know someone that has a watch… She got proposed to with a watch. Which I think is like, good for you that you’re so cool but I’m not that cool,” Beer said. “I know that I’m basic with certain things. Like, I do want a ring.”
Beer added that she would “of course” like to be asked for her hand in marriage with a ring. The comments come as her relationship with Herbert has grown more public since the pair began dating in 2025.
Herbert has shown support by traveling to Europe for Beer’s “The Locket Tour.” Reports indicate the quarterback missed at least one Chargers voluntary Phase 2 organized team activity (OTA) to attend one of her shows. OTAs are not mandatory, and players face no fines or discipline for skipping them. However, Herbert’s decision to prioritize the trip has drawn attention from fans and media.
The Chargers quarterback is preparing for a season in which he will look to lead the team to its first Super Bowl appearance. Herbert has yet to reach the Super Bowl in his NFL career.
Beer, whose recent album includes the track “lovergirl,” has also received public support from Herbert in other ways. He made a cameo appearance in the song’s music video.
The couple has been photographed together at games and events in recent months, with their relationship drawing increasing media coverage. Beer’s comments on the podcast have added another layer to the ongoing public interest in the pairing.
Herbert’s support for Beer’s tour comes during a busy period for both. Beer continues promoting her music across Europe, while Herbert balances personal commitments with preparation for the upcoming NFL season.
