Meek Mill just woke up and chose violence against Nike and LeBron James. And honestly, the internet has been eating it up like free samples at Costco.
The drama started after Nike revealed a new LeBron 23 collection inspired by “Dreams and Nightmares,” which just so happens to be the name of Meek Mill’s legendary debut album and the song that turns every sports locker room into a WWE entrance.
Immediately, Meek hopped on X like a man who just saw somebody wearing his hoodie without asking. The rapper accused Nike and LeBron of using his iconic album title and energy without even sending a courtesy text. Not even a “yo bro, you cool with this?” Just vibes and sneaker promos.
According to the sneaker’s product description on SNKRS, the metallic silver and gold-colored “Dreams and Nightmares” LeBron 23 pays tribute to the trials and tribulations that James had to endure before finally winning an NBA championship with the Miami Heat in 2012. Coincidentally, that was the same year that Meek Mill released his album and song “Dreams and Nightmares.”
“So @nike just gone take my whole brand and mash it up with LeBron … what is this … why wouldn’t anybody holler at me about this? I thought the sneaks was fake? Wassup with this?,” Meek Mill wrote for the X caption.
Now listen, “Dreams and Nightmares” is not just another rap song. That track has basically become America’s unofficial sports anthem. If an athlete is screaming the intro before a playoff game, somebody is about to either win a championship or punch through drywall. The song has lived in gyms, arenas, and questionable motivational TikToks for over a decade.

So Meek clearly feels like Nike borrowed the sauce without tipping the chef
And poor LeBron got dragged into the mess too. The man probably just wanted to release basketball shoes and suddenly he’s standing in the middle of a rap copyright hurricane. Somewhere deep inside a Nike office, interns were probably sweating through their shirts while legal teams started typing aggressively.
Meek’s frustration makes sense. “Dreams and Nightmares” helped define an era in hip-hop and sports culture. The title carries his identity all over it. You can’t just casually slap it on a sneaker rollout and expect him to sit quietly like a substitute teacher during seventh period.
At this point, everybody is waiting to see whether this turns into a business deal, a legal fight, or just another loud celebrity argument that disappears after two trending topics and a playoff game.
