The New England Patriots locker room said, “we’ve seen enough,” and decided to close ranks real quick. Right in the middle of the internet storm, Christian Gonzalez stepped up like a true player for head coach Mike Vrabel. The player made it clear he’s riding with his coach, Mike Vrabel, no matter how loud the headlines get.
In case you missed the latest episode of “Sports Meets Reality TV,” Vrabel and Dianna Russini went viral after photos dropped of them holding hands at a fancy resort in Sedona. Yes, holding hands. Not exactly a crime, but apparently enough to send the internet into full FBI mode.
#Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez on how the team has responded following the situation around Mike Vrabel:
“We aren’t going to speak on what we talked about inside the building… But, that's my coach, that's who I go out there and play for… I’m right behind Vrabes…” pic.twitter.com/vEen1l72Pm

“We aren’t going to speak on what we talked about inside the building, but I mean, that’s my coach,” the cornerback told reporters at a press conference on Saturday.
“That’s who I go out and play for, and he’s proven what he can do as a coach. That’s my guy, and I’m right behind Vrabes any time of day.”
Enter Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who also chimed in with a calm, collected “we support our guy” energy. No panic. No drama. Just vibes. And Gonzalez followed that same script.
“Yeah, we’re here for Coach, we love Coach,” Maye told WHDH-TV 7News last week.
“What he does for us, what he’s done for us this past year, you can’t speak into words, and just thankful he’s our head coach.”
Maye admitted that he was aware Vrabel was “dealing with some stuff off the field and out of the coaching world,” emphasizing that the team was “here for him.”
“I know he’s gonna come back,” Maye continued.
In the end, the biggest takeaway isn’t even the photos, it’s how quickly the team shut down the noise, because in the NFL, distractions are everywhere, but this one? Not sticking.
