Just when you thought Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks couldn’t surprise anyone anymore, he went ahead and did the most random offseason activity imaginable.
This week, Brooks announced that he has officially completed flight school. Yes, flight school.
Not shooting school, not anger management classes, not a seminar on how to stop annoying opposing fanbases. Actual flight school.
The NBA offseason is a magical time. Some players vacation on yachts, some spend time in the gym and others launch podcasts that nobody asked for. Dillon Brooks apparently decided that controlling an airplane sounded like a good way to spend his summer.
To be fair, it’s pretty impressive. Flying a plane isn’t exactly the same as posting up in the corner and hitting the occasional three-pointer. There are actual tests involved, real studying, serious responsibility. One wrong move and you’re not just turning the ball over, you’re introducing yourself to a mountain.
Brooks shared the accomplishment on social media, rocking his aviation outfit and announcement.
Many wondered if air traffic controllers are prepared for the same aggressive energy Brooks brings to basketball courts every night, others joked that opposing NBA stars should now be worried whether Brooks is guarding them on the hardwood or flying over their vacation destinations.
Now imagine sitting on a commercial flight and hearing the pilot introduce himself.
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain, Dillon Brooks speaking.”
Half the passengers would immediately start looking for parachutes.
Jokes aside, completing flight school is no small achievement. Learning to fly takes discipline, focus, and countless hours of training. It’s a serious accomplishment that deserves respect.
The next time Brooks gets into a heated exchange during an NBA game, just remember: the man arguing with referees today might literally be flying a plane tomorrow.
That’s one way to elevate your game. Congratulations, Dillon Brooks!
