Rob Dillingham, the former No. 8 overall pick waived by the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, became the latest name dragged into a public feud between social media personalities Tatiana Chanell and Summyah Marie after a clip circulated Tuesday showing an Instagram message request from an account associated with the guard.
A widely shared post from the account FearBuck said Dillingham “tried sliding into Tatiana Chanell’s DMs” and that Chanell blocked him, citing a new “expose video” from Summyah. The post included a screenshot of a message request reading “I need you,” sent from the verified Instagram handle robwitdashifts, along with a separate chat in which one person identifies the sender as an ex and another replies, “Ewwwwww blocked.”
The circulating images appear dated June 10, not the day after Dillingham’s release. The viral framing treats the messages as a fresh embarrassment in the same 24-hour window as the waiver. The screenshot itself shows an unaccepted message request and a later conversation between two other people discussing whether to block the account. Dillingham has not publicly confirmed the account or the messages, and the clip has not been independently authenticated beyond social media circulation.
The timing, even if the DMs are older, explains why the clip exploded. Charlotte acquired Dillingham from the Chicago Bulls on Saturday in a deal that sent Buddy Hield and cash to Chicago and created a large trade exception for the Hornets. One day later, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Charlotte was waiving him.
Dillingham, 21, is now an unrestricted free agent and will be seeking a fourth NBA stop in two seasons if he catches on elsewhere before opening night. Online reaction treated the waiver and the leaked chat as a single punchline. Replies called it “the worst 24 hours” and “the worst week in NBA history,” language that is social-media hyperbole, not a basketball ranking.
Robert Deon Potasi Dillingham was born Jan. 4, 2005, in Hickory, North Carolina. He starred at Kentucky in 2023-24 as a one-and-done guard, averaging 15.2 points and 3.9 assists while winning SEC Sixth Man of the Year and second-team all-conference honors. The San Antonio Spurs selected him eighth in the 2024 draft and immediately traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The fit never materialized. Dillingham rarely cracked a regular rotation in Minnesota and did not average 15 minutes a night. Minnesota sent him to Chicago at the 2026 trade deadline. With the Bulls he played 30 games and averaged 9.6 points and 2.8 assists. He had surgery in April to remove a ganglion cyst from his right wrist. Chicago then flipped him to Charlotte, which used the deal as a salary and exception maneuver more than a bet on him as a rotation piece.

Tatiana Chanell is a Miami-based influencer and model, born Jan. 7, 2006. She built a large following on Instagram and TikTok with fashion and lifestyle content and was previously in a highly public relationship with Florida rapper Real Boston Richey. That relationship ended amid serious allegations she has made against him, which he has not fully litigated in public.
Summyah Marie, a Los Angeles-based Twitch streamer and content creator born Sept. 14, 2005, has been in her own cycle of viral relationship drama, including a previously public link to rapper NoCap. In recent days Chanell and Summyah have accused each other of sleeping with a roster of celebrities. Those claims remain unverified allegations traded in stories and videos.
Dillingham is collateral. In the clip circulating Tuesday, Summyah appears to use the Instagram request as ammunition in that feud: not as a fully reported relationship, but as proof that a known NBA name had reached out to Chanell and been dismissed. The chat overlay labels one participant “Tatii.” One reply in the screenshot calls the sender “my ex,” which, if accurate, would mean some prior contact — not merely a cold DM after the waiver.
