A Minnesota woman has discovered an unusual way to become internet famous.
Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, went viral after her mugshot appeared online following a shoplifting arrest. And no, the internet did not simply notice the alleged crime.
People noticed something else.
Quast looks remarkably similar to Jennifer Lopez.
The resemblance was enough to send social media into overdrive. Suddenly, a routine mugshot was getting the kind of attention usually reserved for celebrity red carpets.
Quast was arrested on Aug. 30 in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident at a store in Monticello, Minnesota. She was accused of stealing two double packs of power tool batteries.
The alleged value? Around $580. That is a lot of batteries.
A store employee reportedly recognized the Saint Cloud native from an alleged theft two days earlier and called the cops.
Quast reportedly admitted to swiping the battery packs and was booked on a gross misdemeanor theft charge, online arrest listings show.
But her alleged sticky fingers isn’t what’s being talked about.
Quast’s striking resemblance to the 57-year-old international superstar in her mugshot taken by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office has drawn massive attention online.
“For a moment I thought it was jlo lmao,” one user quipped, while another joked, “There’s a glitch in the matrix lol.”
Other users put a spin on the lyrics of Lopez’s iconic 2002 hit “Jenny from the Block” in comment sections where Lopez’s doppelgänger’s mugshot has been shared.
“In prison she’s known as Jenny from D-Block!,” while another snarked, “Jenny been walking the block too much.”
“She’s definitely still Jenny from the block.”
“JENNIFER IF YOU DONT COME CLAIM YOUR SISTER RIGHT NEEOWWWWWWWW & DO THIS DNA TESTTTT. Do it for us. dis yo sistaaaaa gurlllllllllll,” another user joked.
Apparently, someone really needed to make sure the power tools stayed powered.
Quast’s facial features and dark hair immediately reminded many people of Lopez. Of course, looking like a famous celebrity does not come with the celebrity’s lifestyle.
One has sold millions of records and starred in major movies, the other is dealing with a shoplifting case involving power tool batteries.
Quast was released the day after her Aug. 30 arrest, the Daily Mail reported.
Online records indicate her arrest last month wasn’t her first run-in with the law.
The J.Lo-look-alike has previously been arrested for a slew of prior offences, including drug possession, DWI, fleeing police and providing false identification in addition to several traffic infractions, records show.
Sometimes, all you need is a striking resemblance to Jennifer Lopez and $580 worth of power tool batteries.
