The New Orleans Saints have one hell of a season amid Bounty Gate and all their other turmoil. Drew Brees has thrown for 5,000 yards in 2 consecutive seasons.
The Saints defense on the other hand did not have such a great season and broke a record of their own, just not one they will be proud of.
NFL.com is reporting that the Saints defense set the mark for most total yards allowed in a single season with 6,799, surpassing the 6,793 yards allowed by the 1981 Baltimore Colts.
The record gets set in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s first season with the club. Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt, who also coaches linebackers, ironically was a third-year assistant with that 81 Colts team.
