Maurice Cheeks was a great point guard and heady leader during his playing days, and here’s hoping he can be a great leader in his second go round as a head coach.
ESPN is reporting that the Detroit Pistons have hired Cheeks to be their new head coach.

Cheeks has been an assistant coach in Oklahoma City for the past four seasons, and on Monday formally agreed to take over as coach of the Pistons according to sources.
Cheeks has posted a career record of 284-286 in stints coaching the 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers, with three first-round exits in his six full seasons as a head coach.
